Finance causes stress for wedding days

With the average wedding costing about £18,000 these days, it is no surprise that there is an element of stress creeping into the whole process. Yet is all of this expense necessary? Or is it a sort of keeping up with the Jones, family, workmates and friends too?

Whatever the circumstances £18K is an awful amount of cash to be spending on a single event, and I suppose that the true average may be slightly lower, after all celebrities who spend millions of pounds on their wedding obviously bump up the national average, if they were taken out of the equation then maybe the figure would fall.

Weddings are normally hijacked by the two competing families, with guests, dress, catering and presents to mention just a few of the desired items.

I am sure that if there was a discussion beforehand and a budget agreed upon, the bride and groom would opt for the minimal amount to be spent on the wedding itself and then they could keep the change!
