Bin Laden out to bankrupt the US
It could not have been timed more perfectly, right in the middle of the US lead up to the presidential elections. The message could not be any clearer, Osama bin Laden stated that it was al Qaeda’s goal to force the US into bankruptcy.
“We are continuing this policy in bleeding America to the point of bankruptcy. Allah willing and nothing is too great for Allah,” bin Laden said in the transcript.
He goes on to mention the 1980’s when the mujahedeen forced the USSR to fall back from Afghanistan after ten years of fighting a guerrilla war which over time bled the forces dry until they had no option than to pull out.
There are some chilling similarities from those days to the conflict that is going on today; can the west afford to see this one through? Or is there a fate similar to that of the USSR waiting down line?
